Ah Bongs Italian

Akiko came to pay me a visit at work one day and we went out for a quick lunch near the Tiong Bahru area. She suggested that we give Ah Bongs Italian a try. We walked around the block and I was expecting some fancy restaurant but when she finally pointed it out I was surprised to find that it was a little foodstand in a coffee shop! So do not be fooled while you are looking for it!

On a chalkboard by the stand is a list of 4 types of pasta and as each is sold out, they are crossed out from the board! We had arrived rather late and there was only one type available. It was linguine with pepper and broccoli.  And it was only $7!! It was surprisingly good. The sauce wasn’t heavy at all. Very light.  Just the way I like it.

After that we took a short walk to Tiong Bahru Bakery for a bit of dessert and coffee. We tried the coffee eclair and of course the lemon tart. It was a lovely lunch and I was very sorry it had to end.

That said if you are in the Tiong Bahru area and want some good Italian at an affordable price, give Ah Bongs Italian a try.
