Looking for some cantonese Paradise

Its been a while since we last tried a new restaurant and since MamaMonkey is a member of the Paradise Group, we thought we would give one of the new kitchen concepts a try at Bedok Mall.

Canton Paradise is located at the basement of Bedok Mall and it has that kitchen gallery that is so popular with Din Tai Fung fans allowing you to see the chefs at work. Looking through the menu, this is supposed to be the Paradise Group’s attempt at having a Hong Kong kitchen. Lots of dim sums and noodle dishes. We tried the fried prawn fritters, the prawn chee cheong fun and the hor fun, har gao, sweet and sour pork and the stir fried fish fillet. Overall, I think the food was rather good but the servings were a little small. In particular, the prawn dishes were all very fresh. Of all the dishes, I think the dish that was a total rip off was the fish. There was more fried onions then there was fish. The sweet and sour pork was alright. Not too sour, a little too sweet but not terrible. I thought the hor fun was quite good and I wish that it had the option for a bigger serving.

The service wasn’t fantastic. The waitress was very nice, very sweet but the food took a terribly long time to come and we had to keep reminding them of dishes that had yet to arrive. Also, MamaMonkey had ordered a drink that had run out but instead of letting us know, I think they thought we would just forget about it. It wasn’t until when I inquired as to when they would serve us our drink when they told me that they had run out and could I please order an alternate. That’s very annoying in my opinion.

Well, that’s all I have to offer for now. Here’s the important bits of info:
