The color of snot

Patients love describing their snot to me. On a daily basis, I have a non-febrile patient with a couple of days of rhinorrhea and cough describing the color of their phlegm or snot. They get VERY excited whenever it comes to the color green. It’s as if they have equated the color GREEN with ANTIBIOTICS and they always leave disappointed, and quite disbelieving when I tell them that it’s all viral and to please keep hydrated. Well patients, this is a graphic from THE Cleaveland Clinic. You really can’t argue with THE Cleaveland Clinic… Can you?

Also, please go and get a flu shot.
