I went to the 满月 celebration of a friend’s son on Saturday. It was my first. In case you are wondering, 满月 refers to the traditional celebration of the first month of a neonate’s life. I asked my mom. She said that we were quite poor when I was born so all she did was send out red eggs. As I’ve never actually been to one before, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. My mom said that since I’m not married, I really shouldn’t give her a red packet so I arrived with toys instead (she has two other sons). At any rate, I figured they would serve as belated birthday presents (her 3rd baby was born at about the same time of the year as her first two sons). I don’t think I was quite prepared for quite how grown up her sons have gotten. Well, last time I saw her, her first born was her only son!
