Goodbye Bip

When I woke up this morning and decided to catch up on world affairs via cnn.com, I found out about the passing of one of France’s greatest national treasure: Marcel Marceau.  I felt really sad.  I still remember the time I skipped a NuRhoPsi meeting just so I could be one of the many people sitting in the Lyric opera house during the one night he was going to perform in TheCityThatReads.  I got so caught up in the silent imaginary world he created for us, I did not want to leave.  I still regret not having had the courage to try to make my way backstage for his autograph and to hear him speak.

Goodbye Bip.  I hope that wherever you have gone, you will continue to be fascinated by the world around you.

  1. Omigod, he is dead. RIP

In spite of evil cross cultural references and jokes about him, I have only the utmost respect for him and his legacy will live on.
